InvoiceCraft
Onboarding-flow design for an invoicing SaaS, built to get a freelancer from signup to their first sent invoice in minutes.
The Brief
InvoiceCraft's signup-to-first-invoice funnel was losing people at the setup step — too many fields, too little feedback that anything was actually working.
We redesigned onboarding around a single guided flow with sensible defaults, so a new user reaches a real, sendable invoice before they'd normally still be filling out a settings form.
What we built
- One link per invoice: the client opens it on their phone, with no account needed.
- Automatic status tracking: Draft, Sent, Viewed, Confirmed, Paid, Archived. An unpaid invoice past its due date turns Overdue on its own.
- Online payment from the link (Stripe checkout) on paid plans, plus a client confirmation step with a timestamp.
- A free tool: make a PDF invoice without an account, and a free plan with 5 invoices.
- Dashboard onboarding that takes a new freelancer from sign-up to the first sent invoice.
- Guides for freelancers (how to get paid faster, what to include on an invoice) that bring organic search traffic.
Under the hood
Built with Next.js and Supabase (accounts and data) and deployed on Vercel, with PDF invoices that carry the user's own logo.
