How to find clients: 9 channels that work for small business

How to find new customers in Estonia: Google Business Profile, SEO, Google Ads, Meta, referrals, outreach. Which channel suits you and a 30-day plan.

Updated: 2 October 2026By the OpenWeb360 team

Most small businesses don't lose customers because their service is bad, but because the right people don't know about them. Here are 9 practical channels for finding new customers in Estonia, when each one works and how to get started in the first 30 days.

Before the channels: two things must be in place

  • A clear offer: who you serve, which problem you solve and why choose you. If you can't say it in one sentence, customers can't understand it either.
  • A place people land: a website or at least a simple landing page with contact details, pricing and proof. Without it every channel wastes money. See how: how to build a website.

9 channels for finding customers

1. Google Business Profile and local search

If you offer a local service (cleaning, repairs, a salon, a café), this is often the cheapest channel. A person searches for "cleaning company Tallinn" and sees a map and reviews. Fill in the profile completely, add photos and ask satisfied customers for a review.

2. Your own website and SEO

Search brings you people who are looking for exactly what you offer. It takes time but is a long-term asset: one good page can bring enquiries for years. Make each main service its own page and use the phrase people actually search for.

3. Google Ads (search advertising)

You pay for clicks from people who are already actively searching for your service. Results come fast, but without proper setup and tracking it is easy to waste money. See also Google Ads vs Meta Ads.

4. Meta (Facebook and Instagram) ads

Suits cases where your product isn't actively searched for yet and you have to create interest: visual products, events, online shops. It works better when you have strong images and a clear offer.

5. Referrals from existing customers

A satisfied customer is the strongest sales channel, but most businesses don't ask for referrals. Ask actively right after a job well done and make it easy to recommend you (a short link to send).

6. Direct outreach (email, LinkedIn, phone)

Especially in B2B, a personal, relevant message to the right person is often more effective than advertising. Be specific: what you can do for them and why now.

7. Partnerships with complementary businesses

Find businesses whose customers overlap with yours but who aren't competitors (for example a real-estate agent and a renovation company). Exchange referrals or make joint offers.

8. Content marketing and a blog

Write articles that answer the questions your customers ask before buying. It builds trust and brings in people from search who aren't ready to buy yet but will come to you later.

9. An email list and re-engagement

Don't let visitors simply disappear from your site. Offer something valuable (a guide, a checklist) in return for an email address and send useful content from time to time. Many people buy only after several contacts.

The first 30 days: a simple plan

  1. Week 1: phrase your offer in one sentence, choose your audience and set a goal (for example 10 enquiries a month).
  2. Week 2: set up a website or landing page and a Google Business Profile.
  3. Week 3: launch one channel properly (for example Google Ads or direct outreach), not five half-heartedly.
  4. Week 4: measure the result: how many enquiries and at what cost, and decide what to continue.

Measure what works

Without measuring you are spending blindly. Track at least three numbers: how many visitors came, how many of them acted (form, call, purchase) and the cost per enquiry. Set up analytics and conversion tracking before you launch ads.

Frequently asked questions

How do I find my first customers if I don't have a website yet?

Start with direct outreach and referrals, and at the same time build a simple website or landing page together with a Google Business Profile. Our Launch package includes a logo, brand basics, a one-page site and a Google profile setup.

What is the cheapest way to find customers?

Referrals from existing customers, a Google Business Profile and direct outreach. They mainly cost time rather than ad budget.

Should I start with Google Ads or Meta ads?

If people actively search for your service, start with Google Ads. If you still have to create interest, Meta ads suit better. Both need a proper website and conversion tracking.

How much should I spend on advertising?

Start with a small monthly budget, measure the cost per enquiry and increase only when it pays back. The exact amount depends on your industry and competition.

Need a website and ads that really bring customers?
